Kanwar Yatra : Route Diversion and Traffic Advisory Issued for Delhi-NCR – Know the Alternate Roads

The Kanwar Yatra has officially begun, with thousands of devotees heading towards Haridwar. In view of the massive footfall and to prevent traffic congestion, authorities have issued extensive route diversions and advisories for Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.

National News: The Kanwar Yatra has officially begun, with thousands of devotees heading towards Haridwar. In view of the massive footfall and to prevent traffic congestion, authorities have issued extensive route diversions and advisories for Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. This detailed traffic guide is intended to help commuters avoid jams and closed routes.

Delhi Traffic Advisory

  • From Ghaziabad: Kanwariyas entering Delhi through the Maharajpur and Ghazipur borders will proceed towards Haryana via Road No. 56, NH-24, and Ring Road, heading through the Badarpur border.

    From Noida: Devotees traveling from Noida will take the Kalindi Kunj route, continue on Mathura Road, and reach Badarpur.

    Northern Delhi Route: Those coming from North Delhi will move through Majnu Ka Tila and Mukarba Chowk, following NH-1 towards the Singhu and Tikri borders.

  • Facilities: Major Kanwar camps are set up along these routes, offering food and shelter.

Noida—Heavy Vehicle Diversion

  • From Chilla Red Light: All heavy vehicles will be diverted from this point onto the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and further rerouted via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE).

    From DND, Okhla Barrage, and Badarpur Border: Heavy vehicles approaching these routes will face similar diversions and will also be redirected through the designated expressways.

  • Key areas like NIB, Model Town, Chhijarsi, Taj Highway, and MP-01 Elevated Road are being diverted towards EPE.

Greater Noida Route Changes

  • From NH-91 (Aligarh/Bulandshahr/Secunderabad): All vehicles coming from this route will be diverted to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) before they enter Delhi.
  • Pari Chowk Diversion: Traffic routed via Kasna and Sirsa roundabout.
  • Closure: The road from Chilla Red Light to Pakshi Vihar Gate is completely shut.

Ghaziabad Restrictions:

Route Closures:

  • Muradnagar to Tila Mor: 25 km
  • Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kadarabad—42.5km
  • Delhi-Meerut Expressway/NH-9 —Diversions over 53 km

Delhi Border Entry Closed from:

  • Loni border
  • Tulsi Niketan
  • Seemapuri
  • Anand Vihar

Note: Entry into Ghaziabad via these points is restricted. Use alternate routes.

Route to Haridwar

  • From Delhi: Enter via Ghazipur (UP Gate) → Road No. 56 → NH-9 → EPE (from Dasna cut).

 

  • From Baghpat: Vehicles should use the Tronica City route to enter Delhi via Sonia Vihar.
  • From Hapur/Bulandshahr: Entry into Ghaziabad via Lal Kuan or Dasna Bridge is not allowed.
  • Loni Border: Heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering Loni City.
  • Restricted Zones: No entry for vehicles from NH-9 towards Indirapuram, Gaur Green, Khoda, and Sector 62.

  • Check live traffic updates on Google Maps before traveling.
  • Commute only if necessary.
  • Avoid honking and overtaking on Kanwar routes.
  • Save local police helpline numbers in advance.
